We are not a birders number one choice for a rare sighting but there are plenty of birds to keep you busy.

A covy of 50 Gamble's Quail entertain our guests for hours off the back patio.  When they are not busy chasing the White Winged Doves and Cottontail Rabbits out the feed bowls they are occupied with the new chicks how to find food.

Claudette, one of our three resident Greater Roadrunners makes frequent trips around the property and often shows up at the dinning room door at breakfast time.  Sometimes she and the two males team up on a lizzard hunt.  The Roadrunners are serious about raising their young, and during nesting season they are not as active around the B & B as other times of the year.

Casa de Suenos aerial viewFrom mid March until mid October a variety of hummingbirds stop off on their flight north or south.  The most frequent are Black-chinned humming birds, and Rufus humming birds.

It is not uncommon to see Bunnies, quail and a variety of other birds eating from the same feeder, with some inter-species squabbles about who gets priority.

Other common sightings include Curved-billed Thrashers, Cooper's Hawk, Bullock's Orioles, House Finch, American Goldfinch, Bullock's Oriole, Western Tanager, Scotts Oriole, Brown headed Cowbirds, European Starling, Common Grackles, Chihwahwan Ravens, Turkey Vultures, Ladder-Backed Woodpeckers, Western Scrub Jay, Song Sparrows, Bewicks Wren, House Sparrow, Cassin's Finch, White Crowned Sparrows, Cactus Wrens Common Nighthawk, Eurasan Doves, Red Tailed Hawks, Pyrrhuloxia and Northern Modkingbirds.

A short walk into the desert may give you a sighting of the Burrowing Owls.
